Spring is here!

Time to make some plans for outside!  The first things that come to mind are sunshine, longer days, gardens and flowers.  One of the most popular spring flowers is the daffodil!  If you love the rich yellow and gold colors this simple and joyous flower offers, then you won’t want to miss the 30th Daffodil Festival held in Gloucester, Virginia on Saturday and Sunday, April 2nd and 3rd. This is a fabulous way to spring into Spring!

Enjoy great food, live music, art and craft vendors, parade, kids games and fun for all!  The parade is on Saturday at 10 am.  Here is a link to the Gloucester Daffodil Festival.  Gloucester County had its first daffodil business established in the 1890’s, yet It took until 1930 for Gloucester to be anointed the Daffodil Capital of America!

Gloucester is rich in history dating back to the 1600’s and has some of the most beautiful homes on the rivers and creeks off the Chesapeake Bay. It’s a wonderful place to visit or live with a quiet country feel, but in close proximity to Newport News, Hampton and Williamsburg.  You’ll find lodging in local B&Bs and chain hotels.  Visit the local museums full of great artifacts and history or tour Historic Court Circle; experience great shopping and dining along the historic district. For the outdoors, visit Beaverdam Park for hiking, boat rentals, playgrounds and more.

Enjoy the spring!
