Somerset by the Bay is a Northern Neck historic treasure!  Located minutes from Fleets/Chesapeake Bay, this home is situated on 17+ acres and has wide views on Antipoison Creek.  The property has been subdivided into three parcels with two waterfront homesites (one with current home) and the third having access to the pier on the property.  The current pier has 3′ MLW, but for deeper anchorage, one could put a pier on the other parcel to 5’+ MLW.  This is a lovely protected area that shelters sailboaters throughout the year.  Part of the land is being farmed by a local farmer, and there are no restrictions on the land.  This is a fabulous waterfront parcel to farm or have horses.

The historic farm house was built in the 1830’s and has many original features, plus addition in the 1970’s.  The original part of the home consists of the Dining Room, Office, Foyer, Kitchen, Screened Porch, downstairs Bedroom and both upstairs Bedrooms.  Beautiful original features preserved throughout include hardwood floors, wood doors and hardware, mantles around the Dining Room and Office fireplaces, and large windows.  The additions contain the Living Room, Laundry Room, and attached garages.  The Living Room has three sides of windows overlooking the creek with 13’8″ shiplap ceiling and a wood burning fireplace.  There is a large Kitchen with ample cabinet and storage space, Corian countertops, built-in desk, breakfast area and access to the Screened Porch.  The formal Dining Room is off the Kitchen and Foyer and has a gas log fireplace.  The Office is off the Foyer and has built-in bookshelves, a fireplace (never used by current owner), and access to the Screened Porch.  Downstairs has a bedroom with direct access to the full bathroom.  Upstairs has a nice sized landing area, two large guest rooms, and a full bathroom.  Both bathrooms have been gorgeously upgraded, as well as the foyer and the upstairs bedrooms with all new sheetrock and fresh paint, plus the upstairs floors have just been refinished.  There is an attached 1-car garage plus an attached 1/2-car garage, perfect for boat toy storage or a golf cart..  There is also a 3-bay detached garage with one bay having drive-through access, and wonderful storage above.

The garden has a fenced raised bed with strawberries and more.  The yard is landscaped with mature plantings including a magnolia tree, crepe myrtles, large fig bush and more.

This home is a true Northern Neck historic treasure with a great protected location off the Chesapeake Bay, no flood zone, private acreage and just minutes to the towns of White Stone, Irvington or Kilmarnock.  Only an hour+ to Richmond/Williamsburg/Newport News or two+ hours to Northern Virginia/Charlottesville.
